Linear counters are commonly used for the counting of capsules and pills.
Product is deposited from a hopper and transported along lanes using vibrations.
At the end of the lanes, there are infrared sensors that count product as it falls into the collection chute. Once the target count is near, vibrations slow, ensuring the correct number is reached.
Once the target number has fallen into the chute, movement stops, the chute opens and deposits the capsules or pills into the container.
To accommodate for different quantities, the machine can have 8,16 or 32 lanes. Other variations include dimpled lanes, large funnels, anti-clumping devices and reduced angles for delicate products.
Usually, this machine is used alongside other automatic packaging machinery like vffs, pouch, vertical sachet and horizontal sachet machines.
